Almost like Photoshop but free : )

So I like to do a little photo editing now and nothing nothing fancy or crazy but touching up some pics is about 90% of what I like to do and iPhoto is great for that. If you want to get crazy you can use Aperture which is an exteemly powerful photo editing software but it's $200. If you want to get all uber fancy there is Adobe CS4 which is about $650.

Well what about the rest of us who just want to do a little more than iPhoto can do for us. Well there is an awesome program out there called GIMP. It's just like Photoshop where you can edit in layers and what not and has a lot of the same features of Photoshop but not all obviously but for FREE.99 it's the perfect price.
In fact I edited this photo in GIMP for my buddy's wedding and the one at the top of this post. I also did the effect where one thing is color and the rest is black and white, pretty cool for a free program. Also see that dude's hand totally distracting my picture of my buddy's wife? Well with GIMP I removed that thing and now the photo is all focused on my buddy's wife which is a lot better. Then I thougth well those random people in the backgroud are really distracting my pictures focus so I removed everyone excpet my buddy's wife and now the real focus is all on her. I've posted all of them so you can see the difference.

Oh and P.S. I took these pictures on my Nikon D80 DSLR, which takes amazing photos.

Currently it's only for Windows but I have VM Fusion running Windows XP on my Macbook Pro so no problem for me.
